Trouble for Spain? Maybe……
Even though Spain completely dominated match the Swiss somehow found a way to put one in the back of the net and get the three important points. It wasn’t pretty but a win’s a win as Switzerland gets a little closer to their goal. Spain got unlucky, as they were held scoreless for once in a long time. This is Spain’s second loss in 50 games. I wouldn’t panic yet. Spain controlled possession (74%) and had more shots (25), but couldn’t convert on their opportunities. It is just a matter of time till the goals start pouring in. Look for Fernando Torres to start the next match.
It’s about time I got something right this World Cup.
Uruguay dismantled the South Africans 3-0. Diego Forlan did his thing, as he was able to put two into the back of the net. Forlan has been outstanding thus far and I expected nothing less. He doesn’t possess the speed of the high profiled strikers, but his technique and knowledge gives him abilities to score goals. He is one of the best strikers in the world but doesn’t get the recognition he deserves.
Everyone knew Uruguay knew how to score, but more surprisingly, their defense has been excellent. They are yet to conceive a goal. If France beat’s Mexico tomorrow, the Group A match between Uruguay and Mexico will be very interesting. Either way I expect Uruguay to win Group A.
History looks to be in the making again, as South Africa may become the first host nation to not advance into the knock out stages of this World Cup.
