It was a wild finish for both quarter final match ups today as the Netherlands vs Uruguay semi has been set as both teams won their respective match ups dramatically. Those games will be one for the ages.
Could this be it? Those words must be running through every Holland fan’s mind right now. As loaded as their team is, the Netherlands have never raised the cup. This may be one of their best chances as they sent the 5 time champions, Brazil home packing. This is the first time in Brazil’s World Cup history that they have lost a game after leading at half time.
My man of the match goes to , Felipe Melo. That dude played so good. Not only did he set up Brazil’s only goal, but he scored a goal for the other team!
Gaffs like this happen in high school soccer not at the World Cup Quarter Finals. There is no reason why you should get in the way of Julio Cesar when he calls for it.
He wasn’t finished yet…….
Straight red card…get the f*ck outta here. That is such a dumb @ss thing to do. Robben showed his maturity and didn’t retaliate. I really wonder what Melo was trying to accomplish there. His red card left his teammates out to dry, as the Netherlands were able to control the game. This will be in his memory as the worst game he has ever played.
Well Brazilian fans don’t sweat……
2014 World Cup Brazil and I will be there to party.
As for Uruguay, they have reached the semi finals for the first time since 1970. The Uruguay vs. Ghana game was one of the most exciting finished I have ever seen. Only if you could have seen me while I was watching it at work on my phone.
I’m just curious to who taught Ghana how to take a penalty shot. Some of those shots were just awful and effortless. Pass it to the goal keeper next time will ya? Because that’s pretty much what you did. That’s exactly what happens when you don’t close teams out, Gyan. Your missed pk in stoppage time of the second extra time will haunt you forever and you know it.
Anyways like I said, Diego Forlan did his thing as he scored the equalizer in the second half. Forlan has played outstanding this entire tournament and now makes his goal tally three.
That was a huge win for Uruguay as they practically stole it in hostile territory. With pretty much the entire stadium rooting for Ghana, being able to sneak that out is huge for your confidence. Great win.
Now here is my play of the day and quite possibly could be one of the plays of the whole tournament.
As a result a PK.
Some may question whether Luis Suarez could have headed that out or not, but either way it’s not worth the risk at this point. Great play by the young lad. He just saved his team from getting sent home as Ghana shanked the ensuing penalty kick leading Uruguay to win the match in a penalty shoot out. This is one of biggest plays in the whole tournament. If he had not and Ghana ended up scoring, it would have been disastrous.
Intense games like these makes soccer beautiful to watch. Lets home we see more drama in tomorrow matches.
Well this post is for you Frost, you said youtube.
