Kansas City Chiefs
Can you say 3-0? I’m sure not many Chiefs fans would have thought of that kind of start to begin the season. The Chiefs has been one of the bigger surprises to start the season and I believe they will make the playoffs this season. Their defense has been a huge improvement thanks to Romeo Crommel. Young defensive backs Brandon Flowers and Eric Berry have already become impact players. Offensively, Kansas City has speed everywhere. Their big play ability on offense and special teams has been the difference maker in their games. Jamaal Charles, Dexter McCluster and Javier Arenas have all been playmakers in the open field. The only questionable aspect of their offense is their ability to move the ball in the air. At times, Matt Cassell as really struggled and at one point was mistaken for Matt Moore. I believe Cassell can lead this team into the playoffs as long as Kansas City puts him into manageable situations. Avoid the third and longs. With maybe one of the best running back tandems in Jamaal Charles and Thomas Jones look for the Chiefs’ run game to cause many teams fits. Next big test, the Colts.
Talk about getting lucky, that’s summarizes the Bears’ season so far. If it wasn’t for Green Bay beating themselves with penalties and a late fumble the Packers would be on this list. (Also other teams take note; don’t kick the ball to Devin Hester.) The Jay Cutler melt down is bound to happen soon. He is getting too lucky. He should have had at least four interceptions against the Packers but got saved by penalties and dropped interceptions. The Bears’ “Bend but don’t break” defense will eventually come back to haunt them as it will wear down that defense as the season progresses. Even though the Bears are off to a good start I still think the Green Bay Packers will win the division with the Minnesota Vikings clinching the wildcard. Well Jay, at least you’re hooking up with Kristin Cavallari.
Missing Big Ben? Not yet. The Steelers are undefeated without their star QB and have been winning ball games with their trademark defense. The Steeler defense has been stout as Troy Polamalu looks alive again. Quarterback isn’t an issue for this team at the moment as the Steelers continue to find ways to win. When Big Ben returns the Steelers have the opportunity to be e a very deadly team, as their offense would improve drastically. Perhaps another run at the Super Bowl?
